In a double shell and chin-guard airbag for an integral helmet, the two ends of the movable chin-guard (2) terminate in flat casings (12) which are mounted on the inner wall of the helmet shell (1) and which function as pistons. Pref. a half-shell (15) of brittle material (pref. glass fibre-reinforced polyester resin) is mounted inside the helmet shell (1). ADVANTAGE - During an accident, any impact on the chin-guard automatically actuates an airbag.
