<p>One embodiment, intended to protect a fibre optic cable, comprises: - a fibre optic cable (3, 4, 5, 6); - a first conductive cylinder (7); - a polyethylene layer (8); - a dry air layer (9) bounded by a spacer (12) in the form of a helix; - means (1, 2) for detecting a breakdown between the conductive cylinders (7, 10) if a metal tool passes through the outer conductive cylinder (10) or if a ceramic tool begins to touch the solid dielectric layer (8); - a pressurising and drying device (13) for injecting the dry air.
