The decorative panel consists of an inner layer of a transparent or translucent material (1), such as glass or a plastics glass substitute, some 10 mm in thickness, and an outer layer (2) of thin wood, between 0.3 and 2 mm thick, which is stuck to the surface of the transparent layer. The panel has ribs (4) projecting from its outer surface, made from a transparent material and let into grooves in the main transparent layer in a part of the surface where there is no covering layer of wood. The ribs can be transparent or translucent, and plain or coloured. On the inside of the panel there is at least one electric lamp (5) which, when lit, shines its light through the projecting ribs.
