Equipment for disposal of halogenated hydrocarbons, esp. refrigerants, includes: (a) a suction line (1) connected to a liq. and dirt separator (4) which, is connected by a line (5) to the inlet of a motor-driven compressor (6) for compressing the gaseous halocarbons; (b) a condenser (16) which is connected by a line (10), including an oil trap (11), to the compressor outlet and which is connected to a condensate-collecting pressure bottle (20) by a line (18) passing through the separator (4) for additional condensate cooling; (c) a balance (21), located under the bottle (20), for actuating a controller (14) for switching off the compressor motor (7) when the permissible filling wt. of the bottle (20) is reached; (d) a pH meter (15), in one of the lines and connected to the controller (14), for indicating an excessively high acid content; and (e) a pressure switch (13), in the line (10) beyond the compressor (6) and connected to the controller (14), for automatic switch-off of the equipment when excessive pressure occurs. USE/ADVANTAGE - Equipment is useful for refrigerant collection from scrap refrigerators. All the requisite components are assembled as a unit which can be fitted in an easily transporable, wheeled housing.
