PROCESS FOR RECOVERING SULFUR

Disclosed is a process for recovering sulfur, which comprises reacting hydrogen sulfide-containing gas with an iron salt aqueous solution containing ferric ion at a temperature higher than the melting point of sulfur to prepare sulfur, coalescing the fine drops of molten sulfur dispersed in said resulting product into larger drops, then separating and recovering the sulfur. According to the process of the present invention, sulfur can be separated and recovered very easily with a constantly high recovery, and simplification of the process itself and miniaturization of the apparatus can be realized.
