<p>This system comprises essentially: - in the base station (1), a single emission source, able to generate a lightwave with carrier frequency F, and a single receiver, which are associated with means of space- or time-division multiplexing on n beams allocated respectively to the n mobile stations (3), with means of pointing each of these n beams in a specified direction of aim, and with means of controlling these pointing means, cooperating with the single receiver, so as to make this direction of aim coincide with the position of the corresponding mobile station as the latter progresses; - in each of the mobile stations, a backreflector (5) associated with a modulator having a law for modulating the carrier frequency F which can be decoded by the single receiver, and such that the data thus transmitted by each of the mobile stations can be distinguished.
