<p>The object of the invention is a mechanical expansion plug system, specifically designed to close off with a tight seal pipes, receptacles and conduits in general which are subjected to high pressure by the fluid contained in them. The plug (1) is characterized by a body on which a convex truncated cone form is fashioned; an elastic rubber ring (2) is held in position on this by an elastic cup (3) which moves in the direction of the axis of the support cone; the rubber ring (2) provides the seal when, under pressure from the cup (3), it expands, guided by the support cone. The system is also characterized by an expansion adjustability feature thanks to which it can be applied to sections of varying diameter, as well as permitting the creation of shut-offs with controlled and constant radial seal pressure.</p> |
