PURPOSE:To enhance the initial characteristics and improve the rate of service by carrying out the reduction process in a reductive atmosphere after impregnation of an electrode of hydrogen absorption alloy with Ni salts. CONSTITUTION:An electrode of hydrogen absorption alloy is impregnated with solution of Ni salts such as nitrate, sulfate, chloride, acetate, and the resultant is heated in the reductive atmosphere. The nickel formed by this process is of porous nature and attaches to the hydrogen absorption alloy with strong bond to function for connecting alloy particles, and it also contributes to acceleration of hydrogen occlusion in the alloy during charging to lead to enhancement of the electroconductivity. This enables enhancing the rate of service and the discharge characteristics in the initial period of the charge/discharge cycles. |
