PURPOSE:To easily obtain PLZT ceramics excellent in piezoelectric properties and having high density by mixing a PLZT calcined powder raw material with a specified amt. of lead halides, compacting this mixture, thereafter heating it and executing sintering while the lead halides are melted. CONSTITUTION:The calcined powder raw material of lead lanthanum degenerat ed zirconate titanate (hereinafter abbreviated to PLZT) is mixed with one or more kinds of lead halides (such as lead chloride) by the amt. equivalent to 0.1 to 30 molar% of the lead components with a stoichiometric amt. included in this raw material, and this mixture is compacted. Next, the green compact is heated and is sintered while the lead halides are melted to obtain PLZT ceramics. In this way, because, in the sintering stage, at first, the lead halides are melted to form a liquid phase between the calcined powder particles, and via this liquid phase, the movement of PLZT constituting materials progresses, the sintering of the PLZT calcined powder raw material can be promoted in a relatively low temp. range. |
