<p>Refuse is collected from a number of premises in a collection unit (14) mounted on a collection vehicle (50). The loaded collection unit is then demounted from the collection vehicle and is transferred to a transporter (51) which transports a number of loaded collection units to a disposal site. Each collection unit includes hoists (15), compacting means (24) and an ejector. The waste is maintained in a compact condition until it is discharged at the disposal site.</p> |
