PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a fluorescent exciting light source, to prolong its life, and to improve the read sensitivity by making a scan with irradiation light and separating fluorescent light which is emitted by a fluorescent material of a sample in a gel from scattered light. CONSTITUTION:A gel supporter 3 supports a migration part unit 5, a 1st electrode 2a, and a 2nd electrode 2b. Further, an electrophoresis unit 1 is separated from a read unit 6 and electrophoresis is caused by the gel as a base and the supporter 3. Then the migration unit 5 is mounted on the unit 1, a sample which is made into fragments to be put in electrophoresis is supplied from above the gel of the unit 5, and a migration voltage is applied from the electrodes 2a and 2b to perform the electrophoresis. At this time, the gel of the unit 4 is scanned with the irradiation light from a light source in the thickness direction of the gel, which is set in the direction different from the optical axis of the irradiation light. Then fluorescent light generated by the sample is separated from scattered light form a support plate 3 according to the spatial position relation of a photodetection path. Consequently, the small size and long life are realized and the read sensitivity can be improved. |
