MICROWAVEABLE COFFEE MAKERS

A drip-type coffee maker (10) adapted for use in a microwave oven (14). The coffee maker (10) includes a container (20) which can dispense coffee directly into a receptacle (16) therebelow and has an upper reservoir (22) for holding water (24), a lower filter element (26) for holding coffee grounds (30) and a partition (31), which separates the reservoir (22) and coffee filter element (26). The partition (31) includes a portion (33) thereof adapted to close and open communication between the reservoir (22) and the filter element (26), and a non-toxic heat responsive sealing substance (34) adapted to releasably seal the partition portion (33) in the closed position until water (24) in the reservoir (22) reaches a temperature for brewing coffee. When the water (24) in the reservoir (22) reaches a desired brewing temperature, the heat responsive seal (34) releases the portion (33) by melting, dissolving or the like, opening the reservoir (22) to the filter element (26) to the flow of the heated water (24) into and through the filter element (26) and coffee grounds (30) to produce freshly brewed coffee which can be directly dispensed into a receptacle (16) therebelow.
