PURPOSE:To eliminate the surface flaw by the minimum solvent quantity by executing scarfing treatment on a defective part such as a surface crack, etc., of a metallic material. CONSTITUTION:As for a surface flaw 15 of a billet 14, its image is caught by a CD camera 12. Subsequently, image data is subjected to arithmetic processing by an image processor 16, and by calculating the minimum rectangle 17 containing the surface flaw 15, vertical and horizontal length and the direction are determined. Also, the running direction, the running distance, the interval of irradiation paths, and the number of irradiation paths of a laser beam for treating the rectangular surface are calculated, and its signal is transmitted to a controller 19 for controlling a driving part 18 of a working head 7. The controller 19 calculates the expansion/contraction direction of an arm 5 and the expansion/contraction direction of the arm attached to a beam converting post 3 and outputs a command signal to the driving part 18. In such a way, the surface flaw 15 of the rectangle 17 is eliminated by the minimum scarfing quantity by the working head 7. |
