PURPOSE:To obtain the subject short fiber and entangled feather having persistent pesticide action without deteriorating the feeling of feather by applying a pesticide- releasing porous elastic material to the surface of a yarn, cutting the coated yarn into small pieces and entangling the cut yarn e.g. to a feather yarn. CONSTITUTION:Emulsion of an elastic material such as acrylic resin or urethane resin is mixed with an open cell forming agent and a closed cell forming agent such as zeolite, further mixed with a museum beetle repellent and a house tick repellent and the mixture is stirred, heated and cooled to obtain a porous elastomer containing a number of open cells and a number of closed cells formed between the open cells interposing partition walls having extremely thin thickness, wherein the pesticide components are contained in the closed cells and attached to the wall of the open cells. The obtained elastic material containing the pesticide component is cut to small pieces to obtain short fibers capable of emitting the pesticide component over a long period. The small pieces of the yarn coated with the repellents are entangled with feather to obtain entangled fibers capable of slowly emitting the pesticide component over a long period. |
