A sealed tank gauge consisting of a sealed housing having a partitioning wall which divides the housing into a first chamber and a second chamber. The partitioning wall has an interconnecting opening between the first chamber and the second chamber. A rotatably mounted shaft extends through the opening in the partitioning wall, the shaft having a first end disposed in the first chamber and a second end disposed in the second chamber. A seal is provided to form a seal between the shaft and the opening. A sheave is mounted on each end of the shaft. A cable is wrapped around each sheave. A float is secured to one cable and a counterweight/indicator is secured to the other cable. The positioning of the counterweight/indicator in relation to a visual display indicates the positioning of the float within a storage tank. There is an inverse relationship between the positioning of the counterweight/indicator and the positioning of the float.
