PURPOSE:To produce a polydialkylsiloxane which, when added to a polyolefin resin, can improve its impact strength without detriment to other properties by specifying repeating units and the weight-average mol.wt. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic polydialkylsiloxane compound (A) of formula I (wherein R<1> and R<2> are each 6-16C alkyl; and n is 3 or 4) is reacted with 0.0003-0.1mol, per mol of component A, of a disiloxane compound (B) in the presence of 0.001-1mol, per mol of component A, of a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid as a polymerization catalyst at 0-80 deg.C to obtain a polydialkylsiloxane of a weight-average mol.wt. of 8000-5000000 comprising repeating units of formula II. 0.05-20 pts.wt. this polydialkylsiloxane as an impact modifier is added to 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin, especially a polyolefin resin or a PVC resin. |
