PURPOSE:To prevent a breakage accident of an inspection head by providing an intrinsic identification mark on an exclusive use board carrier corresponding to an inspection mode, and providing a carrier sensor for reading the mark at the mounting position of a board carrier at the board carrier mounting position of an inspecting device. CONSTITUTION:Three identification holes 3a for passing a corner 6 of a board carrier 2 together with a retainer 14 and one identification hole 3b for not passing the retainer 14 are provided in a predetermined array based on an inspection mode corresponding to the carrier 2. A carrier sensor 4 having totally four light emitting elements 7a, 7b for emitting lights toward the holes 3a, 3b directly under the holes 3a, 3b and totally four photodetectors 8a, 8b adjacent to the elements 7a, 7b is disposed at the mounting positions for charging a ceramic board 10 in the carrier 2. The array of the holes 3a, 3b is read from the presence or absence of a light incident to the photodetectors 8a, 8b to decide the type of the carrier 2. |
