PURPOSE:To provide the title fluid which can retain a high traction coefficient over a wide temperature range, can miniaturize driving apparatuses and can withstand use under high-speed, high-load conditions, containing a decalylalkane derivative as a base stock. CONSTITUTION:A fluid for traction drive contains a decalylalkane derivative of formula I (wherein R<1>, R<2> are each H, CH3) such as a compd. of formula II, IIIor IV as a base stock. The compd. can be used as a fluid for traction drive, can retain a high traction coefficient over a wide temp. range, can miniaturize driving apparatus and can withstand use under severe conditions such as high-speed, high-load conditions. Hence, the compd. can be widely used as the fluid for automobile, industrial stepless transmission, hydraulic apparatus, etc. |
