PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having excellent transparency, water- resistance, thermal properties and dimensional accuracy and useful as an optical material by hydrogenating a ring-opened copolymer derived from plural specific cycloolefin-containing components. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be produced by hydrogenating a ring-opened copolymer derived from (A) 50-100mol% of a component containing at least one kind of cycloolefin of formula I (n is 0 or 1; m is 0 or positive integer; R<1> to R<18> are H, halogen or hydrocarbon group; R<15> to R<18> may be condensed with each other to form monocyclic or polycyclic group which may contain double bond; R<15> and R<16> or R<17> and R<18> may together form an alkylidene ring) or formula II [p is 0 or 1; q and r are 0, 1 or 2; R<5> (or R<6>) and R<9> (or R<7>) may be bonded with each other directly or interposing a 1-3C alkylene group] and (B) 0-50mol% of a component containing at least one kind of cycloolefin expressed by formula III (t is >=3; R<19> and R<20> are H, halogen or hydrocarbon group). |
