The invention relates to a protective screen for machines operating in the presence of powders, mists, vapours, fumes and the like, such as agricultural and non-agricultural machines. This screen consists of a flat pneumatic barrier widened out into the shape of a fan around at least one generator of an air flow (12) and intended to protect the on-board operator and/or the parts of the machine from noxious, hazardous, irritant agents, or agents which can cause choking (clogging). <IMAGE>
