PURPOSE: To provide sufficient transmissivity without performing accurate adjustment by making a two-color polarizer pass through white linear polarized light along the main polarization axis and pass through colored linear polarized light along an axis disposed orthogonally to the main polarization axis. CONSTITUTION: A two-color assembly 22 provided in a liquid crystal display panel structure body 11 is provided with a multiplex high torsion nematic liquid crystal display panel 24 disposed along a linear optical path in common between an input 2 state two-color polarizer 23 and an output neutral gray polarizer 25. Then, in the non-excitation state of the liquid crystal display panel 24, a bias voltage supplied by a driving unit is adjusted so as to make the two-color assembly 22 pass through colorless light. Similarly, in an excitation state, the two-color assembly 22 is excited by the driving unit so as to twist the linear polarized light for about 90 degrees so as to color the light emitted from the neutral polarizer 25. Thus, the sufficient transmissivity is obtained without the need of the accurate adjustment. |
