The storage container for filling material such as fibres, flock etc. which are inclined to form bridges is frusto-conical in design and expands towards its outlet opening adjoined by a discharge device. In the wall of the storage container there are indicators (4,5) which show the max. and min. height of the filling material. The shafts (7,9,10,11,12,13) of the stirrer mechanism are mounted vertically spaced from each other distributed over the height of the storage container and are each provided with a horizontal longitudinal axis which are off-set from each other in succession at an acute angle and which each have their own drive. Further indicators (20 to 24) showing the level of filling are each coupled to a drive and are each assocaited with a shaft of the stirrer mechanism. These further indicators are also mounted in the wall of the storge container. USE/ADVANTAGE - Each horizontal stirrer mechanism shaft is associated with its own drive and its own filling indicator.
