The metering valve is for mounting on a pipe through which a go-devil can be passed for cleaning etc., having an adjusting mechanism for its plug. The plug (20) is guided in a length of pipe (12) so that it cannot turn, and which is mounted on the main pipe (10) in the radial direction. In the shut position it is flush with the inside wall of the latter. It is moved inside it into the open position by its adjusting mechanism.
