PURPOSE:To stably continue laser transition and to obtain inverting distribution by reducing the number of atoms of predetermined energy level in a laser oscillating state by introducing light of a second laser light source and inductively emttting or exciting it. CONSTITUTION:When a light P1 having predetermined wavelength from an exciting laser light source 5 is incident to an optical fiber 1, laser active medium is excited by the light, and its energy level is transited from a base level '0' to '3' energy level. Thereafter, a laser oscillation occurs upon transition of energy level '2' to energy level '1' through transition of energy level '3' to energy level '2'. Since the light P2 of a second laser light source 6 is incident to the fiber 1 substantially simultaneously upon introduction of an exciting light, atoms of predetermined energy level, i.e., energy level '1' are moved down to a base level '0' by inductively emitting, or excited to an upper level '3', etc., to reduce the number of atoms of energy level '1' state. Thus, an excellent inverting distribution is formed, and laser oscillation is stably continued. |
