PURPOSE:To improve safety through prevention of leakage of ultrasonic propagation medium liquid even when an acoustic window is broken, by forming a protection film, having acoustic characteristics similar to those of the material of the acoustic window and electric insulating property and elasticity, on the outer or inner peripheral surface of the acoustic window. CONSTITUTION:A protection film 4 having acoustic characteristics similar to those of the member of an acoustic window 3 and electric insulating property and elasticity is formed in a manner to wrap the outer peripheral surface of the acoustic window 3 therewith. For example, a rubberlike material is suitable for the protection film 4, and a clear or a translucent material is used where necessary. At an operation period during diagnosis and during movement of a device, this constitution prevents breakage of the protection film, having electric insulating property, through utilization of elasticity even when the acoustic window is broken, resulting in prevention of leakage of ultrasonic propagation medium liquid and flying of broke pieces, and beside prevents the generation of leaking current to maintain safety of a mechanical scanning type ultrasonic probe. |
