PURPOSE:To discriminate validity of the data in a memory element simply by a method wherein an identification code is added to an information group recorded in a non-volatile storage element and mismatch of this identification code to an identification code designated by a program is discriminated. CONSTITUTION:Instead of discriminating whether or not a data set (an information group) recorded in a ROM 15 and a data set (an information group) stored in a non-volatile memory element 24 are of the same kind with a central processor 12 after turning on the printer and before initiating control of a mechanism part, match or mismatch of the number of an identification code U in the ROM 15 to the number of the identification code U in the non-volatile memory element 24 is discriminated. When both identification codes are confined to each other, the numerical value for controlling the mechanism part is judged to be normal, and the initialization for controlling the mechanism part hereinafter is executed. Besides, in the case where both identification codes are not conformed to each other, operation such as rewriting contents or the like of the information group in the non-volatile memory element 24 and others are executed. |
