<p>NEW MATERIAL:The cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester of formula I [R<1> is 3- phenoxyphenyl, 3-(4-halogenophenoxy)phenyl, 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrophthalimidyl, or 5-benzyl-3-furyl; R<2> is H, methyl, cyano, or ethynyl; X is halogen]. EXAMPLE:3-Phenoxybenzyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(1-methyl-2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate. USE:Agricultural, horticultural and sanitary insecticide. Effective to sanitary vermins such as mosquito, fly, etc. It is also effective by its excellent light stability to the cotton vermine such as cotton boll worm, the green vegetable vermin such as common cutworm, etc. It can be advantageously used not only as an emulsifiable concentrate, oil solution, etc., but also as a fumigating agent such as mosquito- repelling incense by compounding with a proper base. PROCESS:The compound of formula I can be prepared, e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with the alcohol of formula III in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent, as shown in the reaction formula.</p> |
