Closure device for the tapping hole of a casting ladle includes a closure plate which is opened and closed by sliding in a horizontal plane beneath opening via a piston unit which is connected to the plate by an intermediate part. The unit is connected to the part by coupling members and can be rotated about axis by piston when the side bolts are located in slots of side support plates whic include slide ramps to enable bolts to move away from or towards the slots.
