Optical fibre core mfg. mechanisms - uses opposite twisting tubular accumulator for forming excess fibre length

The optical fibres of the mfd. optical fibre core are pulled into an extruded sleeve with an excessive length. During this step the core is spirally wound on a tubular accumulator. In order to generate the excessive length, a tubular accumulator (11) is used, as known in an opposite (SZ) stranding technique. Pref. the tubular accumulator is rotatably mounted about its own axis. To the accumulator inlet aperture (13) may be associated a device for the supply of a slide-promoting wax (15). The tubular accumulator may be immersed in a liq. It may have a hard, non-corroding, mat surface. ADVANTAGE - Simple mechanism with control of friction forces.
