A steam-sterilizale filtration device comprises a hollow fibre type module having hollow fibers (2) of heat resistant polymer with a heat distortion temperature of 70 DEG C or higher under the load of 18.6 kg/cm<2> and with pore diameter of less than 0.45 mu m and having a difference in average linear expansion coefficient between the sealing material for fixing the end portions (3) of the hollow fibers and the module case (1) at a temperature of 20 - 121 DEG C of 7 x 10 <-><5>/ DEG C or lower. To sterilize the device steam is passed from the raw water side (5) of the module to the filtrate side (4) thereof, while withdrawing all or a part of the raw water and filtrate in the module or alternatively after withdrawal of raw water and filtrate.
