MANUFACTURE OF FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC SHAFT WITH METAL FLANGE

PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of rigid shaft by pressing a thin plate and fibre which is impregnated in resin with a pressing tool which has a cylindrical web and recessed and projected parts which correspond to the recessed part on the web, and solidifying resin in a dryer. CONSTITUTION:A thin plate 3 whose circular cross section can be deformed easily is mounted on the outer periphery of a web 2a of a metal flange 1 which has a cylindrical section 2 which has different cross section and a recessed section 6 on the web 2a in axial direction equally distanced in peripheral direction. A fibre 4 which is impregnated in resin is wound on the thin plate 3. The thin plate 3 and fibre 4 are pressed by a pressing jig with a pressing tool which as the web 2a in the cylindrical section 2 and recessed and projected parts which correspond to a recessed part 6 on the web 2a. Resin is solidified in a dryer. Thus, it is possible to manufacture fibre reinforced plastic shaft with metal flange which has sufficient strength both in axial direction and in the direction of rotation.
