<p>For a predetermined period (2s) following application of a closure command (5), the semiconductor (T1) of the static power switch, supplied with DC voltage (V1), is controlled by a regulating circuit (F, 8, R3) so as to operate as a current generator limiting the current to a value (100 mA) much lower than its nominal value (30A). A fuse (F) serves as measuring shunt. The switch can include a circuit-breaker function. In this case, the circuit for fault detection (13) measures the voltage across the terminals of the semiconductor (T1) and provides an opening signal when this voltage exceeds a predetermined threshold.
