PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber useful as a clothing material by forming a thin metal film layer and a transparent metal compound thin film layer on a fiber in order for coloration to what is called iridescence color without deterioration of touch, etc., of the fiber material itself. CONSTITUTION:A fiber is subjected to thin metal film layer formation treatment in the presence of an inert gas or without using the gas while holding the fiber in a reduced pressure or vacuum state. Metal compound thin film layer formation treatment is then carried out in the presence of an inert gas containing metal compound-forming components, thus obtaining the objective fiber having a thin metal film layer and a transparent metal compound thin film layer formed thereon in order. In addition, Al, Cr, etc., and TiO2, In2O3-SnO2, etc., are suitably used respectively as the metal for the thin metal film layer and as the metal compound for the metal compound thin film layer. |
