PURPOSE:To attain high degree of convergence by molding the light emitting element, which is mounted on a frame, and a lens with transparent resin, and also molding the convex part equivalent to the lens integrally. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode is one where the diode chip 3 mounted on a lead frame 2 is molded with transparent resin 4 integrally into columnar shape. At the mole resin 4 is formed, at the emitting part from which the light of the diode chip 3 in front of a spherical lens 8, a convex part 4a, which effects the lens action being positioned on the light axis same as the diode chip 3. This convex part 4a is equivalent lens, being formed in hemispherical shape. Therefore, the radiated lights, which are converged into nearly parallel lights by the spherical lens 8, are further converged by this convex part 4a, and are converged to focus on a point close to and ahead of the convex part 4a. Hereby, the degree of convergence can be elevated enough. |
