PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of ceramics contg. a nonoxide such as carbon or carbide by oxidation and to stably fire the high-quality ceramics by regulating the concn. of oxygen in hot gas for firing to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:When ceramics contg. a nonoxide such as carbon, graphite or silicon carbide is fired at a high temp. of >=800 deg.C is a heating furnace, at least one among CO, liquified natural gas, hydrogen, town gas, blast furnace gas and coke oven gas or a mixture of such gases is blown into combustion heating gas from the periphery of a burner or at the tip of a flame so that the concn. of O2 in the atmospheric gas in the furnace is regulated to >100-900ppm and firing with a direct fire is carried out. The ceramics is fired in a high firing yield without degenerating the nonoxide in the ceramics by oxidation. |
