PURPOSE:To improve display quality by making the interval between two substrates uniform by providing spacer material between the substrates of a liquid-crystal display device, etc., uniformly and dispersedly over the entire surface through many fine through holes having nearly the same diameters. CONSTITUTION:On at least one substrate 16 of the electrooptical device of a liquid-crystal display device, etc., wire netting a sheet 14, etc., made of stainless steel having many fine through holes 15 of nearly the same diameters corresponding to the interval between both the substrates 16 and 21 is placed, and spacer materials 12 (glass grains, SiO2 grains, etc.) are dispersed uniformly over the substrate 16 by being sprayed from over the wire netting 14 or by applying a dispersed solution of the spacer materials 11, thus providing spacers 13. Then, the substrates 16 and 21 are sealed with a sealing material 24 and an electrooptical substance 23, such as liquid crystal, is filled with, thus obtaining the display device. Consequently, the uniform electrooptical substance layer 23 is obtained. |
