Process for automating the addressing of postal consignments, consisting of two graphic supports, which allow the sender to place on them the postal codes both of the addressee, on one, and of the sender, on the other, in such a manner that, with the incorporation of both supports into the postal consignment, both codes may be read, interpreted and processed by electronic and mechanical means which are already known, with a view to the automatic classification and opportune addressing of all postal consignments, both for the purposes of their expedition and for those of return if it has not been possible to deliver to the intended destination. These two graphic supports (which preferably, but not necessarily, may be identical) may be of two types: one in the form of a separate label, like a stamp, and the other printed on the actual postal consignment, an eminently practical form in all types of conventional and standardised postal envelopes. <IMAGE>
