摘要 PURPOSE:To minimize the frequency of error processing by an operator by providing at least, one or more sheet end sensors at a fed sheet transport mechanism and a discharged sheet transport mechanism, interpreting which sheet end sensor detects an abnormal sheet transport, and allowing either one of the mechanisms to retry without stopping it regardless of such an abnormal sheet transport state depending on the interpretation results. CONSTITUTION:A main control part 10 interprets which one of a fed sheet end sensor S1 or a discharged sheet end sensor S2 has detected an error and determines a site where an abnormal sheet transport state occurs. In addition, if a state 'sheet empty' is discovered as a result of an output from the fed sheet end sensor S1, sheet feed is retried at a specified frequency, for example, 2 to 3 times without stopping a fed sheet transport mechanism I, although the state is 'sheet empty'. If nevertheless an error detected by an output from the fed sheet end sensor S1 is cancelled, the fed sheet transport mechanism I is stopped. After the completion of switching of the fed sheet end sensor S1, a fed sheet transport mechanism II is stopped, if the discharged sheet end sensor S2 is not switched. However, after the switching of the discharged sheet end sensor S2, a discharged sheet transport mechanism III functions in such a way that it retries at a specified frequency, if the switching operation is not completed even after the lapse of a specified time.
