PURPOSE:To obtain an image generating no background staining and tailing at the time of printing even when plain paper having rough grain is used and improved in printing density or resolving power by transferring the sealer of a material to be transferred to at least the printing surface of the material to be transferred and transferring an ink layer to the transferred sealing layer. CONSTITUTION:In a usual N-time mode thermal transfer apparatus using a thermal transfer sheet wherein a sealing layer 3 is formed to the surface of the ink layer 2 of a base film 1 is used, the sealing layer is transferred simultaneously with printing or a separate auxiliary thermal head is provided immediately before a printing thermal head and only the sealing layer is substantially transferred to a material to be transferred by relatively low energy and the ink layer is subsequently transferred by the printing thermal head using usual printing energy to form an image. As the thermal ink layer, one having the transfer sealing layer 3 formed thereto in parallel to the ink layer 2 in face sequence is used and, at first, only the sealing layer is substantially transferred to the material to be transferred and, subsequently, the ink layer is transferred by usual printing energy to form an image. |
