352,020. Dynamo-electric machines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. March 31, 1930, No. 10235. Convention date, April 8, 1929. Addition to 334,473, [Class 35, Dynamoelectric generators &c.]. [Class 35.] Heating machines while inoperative ; dynamos, cooling.-In a method of supplying heat to a turbogenerator during the period when it is out of operation according to the parent Specification, at least part of the heat is supplied to the generator by using the rotor and/or stator windings as electric heating resistances. The Figure shows a generator 1 having a closed cooling system in which air is circulated by a blower 6. The rotor windings are supplied with current from rectifiers or from a low-voltage generator 21, the controlling resistance 24 or field rheostat of which is adjusted by a thermostat 16 either directly through levers 17, 18, 19 or through a relay. The phases of the stator windings when used as heating elements may be connected in series. Resistances 25, 26 in the cooling system may constitute the main source of heat.
