Dewatering felt for use as a press felt in the wet press section of a paper-making machine

Wet press felt intended for paper-making machines and comprising at least an upper layer 6 of staple fibres and the like, directed towards the paper web 4, and a second layer. The second layer 7 forms a barrier layer which is so configured that, during the compression phase in the press nip in the wet press section of the paper-making machine, water can be pressed through the second layer 7, whereas, during the expansion phase downstream of the press nip, it is prevented from flowing back to the upper layer and to the paper web.
