Cheeses are arranged one above the other in storage racks, are transported in the racks, ejected and turned upside down before transfer to a station for simultaneous treatment of upper faces and edges, before returning to an empty storage rack. Appts. comprises a first transporter for delivering storage racks to a first transfer station, a second transporter for removing racks from a second transfer station, at least one treatment station and an automatic robot gripper. The gripper (i) turns cheeses upside down, (ii) inserts them in the processing station and (iii) transfers treated cheeses to the second transfer station. USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables a number of cheeses to be transferred from storage and processed simultaneously before returning to store, substantially increases output and enables cheeses to have a longer processing time.
