PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of an encoder by emitting light through an optical system from a light-emitting element to rotor pole teeth in a motor, and sending the reflected optical signal to a photodetector through an optical system. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 12 are extended outside from the housing 3 of a stepping motor 1. One of the fibers is connected to a light-emitting element 14 such as a light-emitting diode or laser diode, while the other is connected to a photodetector 15 such as phototransistor or photodiode. The light output from the light-emitting element 14 is introduced through an optical transmission system 10 to the inside of the motor housing 3. The light is then emitting to rotor pole teeth 7a through an output end 12A, and an optical signal reflected from a pole teeth 7a is detected at a receiving end 12b in a predetermined position. The optical signal is transmitted to the photodetector 15 through an optical transmission system. |
