PURPOSE:To surely light a discharge lamp by fixing the output of a polarity switching circuit to DC for a discharge lamp after a DC power source is turned on, and applying the high-voltage pulse from a starter with the opposite polarity to this DC to the discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION:A means is provided fixing the output of a polarity switching circuit 2 to DC until a discharge lamp 1 starts lighting after a DC power source is turned on, and the high-voltage pulse from a starter 12 with the opposite polarity to this DC is applied to the discharge lamp 1. The transition from a glow discharge to an arc discharge can be quickly performed at the initial stage of lighting. An AC discharge lamp lighting device surely allowing good lighting can be obtained. |
