The invention relates to a transfer device of the type comprising, for the transfer of an article (12) from a station (10A) to a station (10B), an article-carrying support (19) and displacement command means (20) suitable for commanding in a controlled manner the displacement in a plane of the said article-carrying support (19). According to the invention, the article-carrying support (19) is mounted so as to be movable in translational motion in one direction (D1) on a carriage (25), itself mounted movably in translational motion in a direction (D2) orthogonal to the preceding direction, and the displacement command means (20) associated with it comprise, in addition to a linkage (26) suitable for commanding the displacement of the carriage (25), cam means (28, 29) suitable for ensuring a displacement of the latter in line with each of the two relevant stations (10A, 10B). The invention is used particularly for equipping silk-screen printing machines. <IMAGE>
