An air bag (3) in an air bag unit wherein a fitting base portion (3a) is clamped between an air bag support member (6) and an annular metal (8) and which inflates on receiving a gas ejected from an inflator (2) actuated in an emergency. The annular metal (8) is bonded to the fitting base portion (3a). Since this metal (8) is in advance bonded to the air bag fitting base portion (3a), alignment between the fixing member insertion hole (11) of the air bag fitting base portion (3a) and the fixing member insertion hole (10) of the annular metal (8) need not be made. Therefore, it will suffice when the fixing member insertion hole (10) of the annular metal (8) is aligned with the fixing member insertion hole (12) of a support metal (16). Accordingly, man-hour for air bag fitting work can be reduced and effort in fitting the air bag can be reduced. Moreover, since the air bag fitting base portion (3a) is bonded to the annular metal (8), the fitting base portion (3a) is reinforced and air bag fitting strength can be improved. |
