PURPOSE:To obtain a fluorocopolymer improved in adhesion to substrates by copolymerizing a fluoroolefin with a vinyl ether and a specified organosilicon compound. CONSTITUTION:30-70mol% fluoroolefine (e.g. CF2=CF2) is copolymerized with 20-60mol% vinyl ether comprising 99.5-90mol% 1-3C linear alkyl vinyl ether and 0.5-10mol% cycloalkyl vinyl ether or branched alkyl vinyl ether and 1-25mol% organosilicon compound having an olefinically unsaturated bond, an alkyl group and a hydrolyzable group (e.g. allyltrimethoxysilane) to obtain a fluorocopolymer of a number-average mol.wt. (gel permeation chromatography) of 3000-200000, a degree of crystallinity of 0%, a glass transition temperature of -60 to +20 deg.C and a refractive index of 1.48-1.34. This copolymer and a silanol condensation catalyst (e.g. dibutyltin laurate) are dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g. benzene) to obtain a coating composition. |
