<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a filter material for an Al molten metal including solid impurities by mixing ceramic filler particles having a specified shape and particles size with an inorganic binder or the like, compacting the mixture and executing firing at high temp. CONSTITUTION:By pts.wt., 100 ceramic particles of Al2O3, SiC, Si3N4, ZrO2 or the like with 0.3 to 3.0mm average particle size in which >=50% has 100 to 130 shape index is mixed with 4 to 20 pts.wt. inorganic binder having a compsn. contg. B2O3, Al2O3, MgO or the like as well as <10% glass or SiO2 and with suitable amounts of organic binder and water, and the mixture is sufficiently kneaded, is compacted into a shape as a filter material, is dried and is thereafter fired, e.g. at >=1100 deg.C. The porous filter material having a pore size distribution in which pores included within + or -50% of the average pore size occupy >=70% of the whole pores and filtering and removing fine solid impurities in an Al molten metal can be obtd.</p> |
