PURPOSE:To provide the title structural material capable of secondary processing while retaining crystal-like surface pattern, composed of at least two kinds of synthetic resin differing in optical properties from each other with one of them representing indefinitely shaped granules and homogeneously dispersed in the matrix into integration. CONSTITUTION:(A) A mass of transparent (opaque) synthetic resin is cooled to a temperature below its brittle temperature and mechanically crushed into indefinitely shaped granules. (B) these granules are homogeneously blended with an opaque (transparent) synthetic resin as the matrix, followed by polymerization to harden the matrix resin into integration. (C) The surface of the resulting product is then machined with a grinder to expose a cut surface, and while heating this surface, the product is molded to a specified shape using a mold, thus obtaining the objective molded product. For the present product, if both the matrix and indefinitely shaped granules are thermoplastic, the machined surface is in compliance with molded shape even if heated and molded in the secondary processing, thus enabling diversified surface pattern to be maintained even with curved surface. |
