<p>A sail propulsion device using a flexible multicellular wing with self-inflating cells such as is used in paragliding some kites, etc. A flexibe wing comprises a top surface (2) and a bottom surface (1) with various partitions (4 and 5) forming the connections therebetween. Openings (0 and 35) are formed in the leading edge of the wing to provide lift. The inner portion of the wing is connected to a gaff (10) provided with a swivel (11) onto which is hooked the throat halyard (12), and the lower portion is connected to a boom (8) which is held on the boat by a movable pulley (13). Said device is designed for high-performance sailing boats but can be used without alteration on any kind of vessel or vehicle having a mast.</p> |
